Workmanship

Since when has it become the norm to do the minimum required? Why do others scoff and look down on you when you take extra time to finish a project? When you decide to eat at your desk so you can do your work at the same time? Is it such a bad thing to want to be thorough (because you are an absolute mess in every other aspect of your life)?
